Mother and Baby Exercise 7
Mother stands holding her baby sideways with her forearm through his legs and along his whole front. She then takes a step sideways and across and pauses for a long and strong contraction of buttocks, inner thigh, pelvic floor and abdominal muscles. A relaxing side step follows and then another crosss step with time for the contractions. She moves a few side steps in that way before returning crossing over with the other leg and added contractions. Before the return walk she changes the baby's position to lying on the back on her forearm right up to the back of his head. In that way mother takes time to strengthen repeatedly the abdominal and pelvic floor muscle groups. For the baby it is a challenging neck exercise with the mother's free hand held ready to give momentary head support when still needed.
